High-powered blender - such as Vitamix or Ninja
Measuring cups and spoons
Knife and cutting board - for slicing the banana
Freezer-safe storage bag or container - for freezing grapes ahead of time
Tall serving glasses
Reusable straw - optional
- 2 cups seedless red grapes - 300g, frozen
- 1 medium ripe banana - about 100g, fresh or frozen
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt - 240g, full-fat or low-fat
- 1/2 cup milk of choice - 120ml, dairy, almond, oat, or coconut milk
- 1-2 tablespoons honey - or maple syrup, optional, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract - optional
- ice cubes - small handful, only if using fresh grapes instead of frozen
- fresh whole grapes - for garnish (optional)
Wash and dry red seedless grapes thoroughly, removing all stems. Spread in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet, freeze for at least 2 hours or overnight, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag.
Peel banana and break into 3-4 chunks. For a colder, thicker smoothie, use a previously frozen banana.
Add milk to the blender first, then yogurt, vanilla extract, honey or maple syrup, banana chunks, and frozen grapes on top.
Secure lid tightly. Blend on low for 10 seconds, then increase to high and blend for 45-60 seconds until completely smooth. Scrape down sides if needed.
Taste and adjust sweetness with more honey or consistency with extra milk or frozen grapes. Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to brighten flavor if desired.
Pour immediately into tall serving glasses. Garnish with fresh whole grapes on the rim or a thin grape slice inside. Enjoy right away.
- Always freeze the grapes first for a thick, slushy texture. Fresh grapes will make a watery smoothie.
- Use red or purple grapes for the sweetest, most flavorful results. Concord grapes create an intensely grape-flavored smoothie.
- Add liquid to the blender first to protect the motor and ensure even blending.
- A ripe banana with brown spots provides the best sweetness and creaminess.
- Do not over-blend; blending too long generates heat that can thin out the smoothie.
- Taste before sweetening – red grapes are often sweet enough without added honey.
- Store leftovers in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours; shake or stir before drinking.
- Freeze leftover smoothie in ice cube trays, then blend with a splash of milk for a quick smoothie later.
- Prep freezer packs with grapes and banana chunks for 2-minute morning blending.
- This smoothie is best served cold and should never be reheated.
